Peter spent the first fifteen years of his tax career as an Inspector of Taxes and as might be imagined gained considerable HMR&C experience looking after the affairs of companies and their directors as well as being engaged on a wide range of investigations. He then joined the KPMG regional private tax practice in Milton Keynes primarily advising owner managed businesses, UK subsidiaries of international companies and heading large tax investigations before joining Rawlinson & Hunter in London. At R&H Peter was able to add the experience of private international taxation and trust work to his portfolio whilst continuing to advise household names on a broad range of individual and owner managed business and tax issues.
Peter has been a tax Partner working in the profession for the past 14 years. In the last ten years he has run his own practice, the Chancery group, which he formed with Kathryn, his wife, in 1997. He includes within his adviser base clients who have remained with him since his KPMG days. Peter is heavily involved with legitimate tax mitigation schemes of all kinds including Enterprise Zone Syndicates, Film Partnerships and bespoke tax shelters. His tax expertise is across the board and includes Personal and Corporate Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, Trusts, Property Tax and Investments, Tax Efficient Business Structures /Advice & Consultancy, Mergers, Acquisitions, Management Buy Outs / Buy Ins, Corporate Finance and Offshore Structures.
Peter has a Financial Services Qualification, although his primary interest in this area is the tax breaks that such products give and how they interact with tax planning generally and Inheritance Tax in particular.
Outside the office, Peter is busy with his family and grandchildren, dogs and farm and tries to fit in as much time as he can shooting and watching rugby and cricket.
Colin joined Chancery when it was formed in 1997 and like Mark Nichols started his career in Payroll, Accounts and Bookkeeping. As the business grew and gained more clients Colin's role became solely tax based and he looked after the tax affairs of a large portfolio of Clients.
Colin has spends most of his time looking after High Net Worth Individuals and advising them on various tax mitigation products and strategies. He also spends an increasing amount of time dealing with special projects, such as putting together Enterprise Zone Syndicates and is also involved with the management of the Chancery businesses.
Colin has his Financial Services Qualification, although he only advises Clients on tax efficient products, which are used in tax planning.
Colin has a young family and enjoys shooting, fishing and watching rugby.
Mark started his tax education in 1996, when he undertook a tax degree in Taxation and Revenue Law at Bournemouth University. He then joined MacIntyre Hudson where he completed his training as a Chartered Tax Adviser. He started working for Chancery in April 2002 and became a partner of the firm on 1 April 2007. Mark heads up the Tax consultancy Department, where his primary role is putting together tax efficient structures and tax mitigation ideas for individuals and corporates. Mark has his Financial Services qualification, Cert PFS, which he uses to access a wide range of products primarily for their tax planning properties.
Helen started her professional career in the audit department of Macintyre Hudson. After four years of auditing she moved to the tax department where she completed her training as a Chartered Tax Advisor. Helen joined Chancery in 2004 and became a partner on 1 April 2008. Helen works within the Tax Consultancy department where she puts together tax efficient structures for individuals and corporates. Helen obtained her Financial Services Qualification Cert PFS in 2006 which she uses to assist clients with their tax mitigation. Helen’s spare time is taken up by walking her dog, going to the gym and relaxing with her friends.
David joined Chancery in 2001 and became a partner of the firm in April 2008. At Chancery David heads up a team of tax advisers and is responsible for the taxation affairs of Chancery’s high net worth individual and corporate clients. In addition David works alongside professionals on the development of tax based Property, Film, Media, Venture Capital and Alternative Investments. David has vast experience in advising clients on tax mitigation strategies and structured product solutions. David is a Chartered Tax Adviser and is also a member of the Associations of Taxation and Accounting Technicians. David’s taxation experience spans Personal, Business, Corporate, Offshore and Inheritance Tax matters. David also has a Financial Services qualification and works alongside Chancery’s IFA’s in providing an overall financial planning strategy for the firm's high net worth individual clients. Outside of the office David has an active social life, plays golf and enjoys various sports.
Rob trained, qualified and worked at Mazars for over 12 years before joining Chancery as a partner in January 2009. Rob has built up considerable experience in audit, accounting and related matters, working for a wide range of clients with turnovers up to £50 million. Rob leads the Audit and Accountancy Practice at Chancery (UK) LLP. He has specialist knowledge of the investment property sector, group audits and consolidations. Rob enjoys working on special projects such as examining investment opportunities on behalf of clients, producing forecasts and projections for raising finance, assisting with succession planning, group reconstructions and demergers. Outside of the office, while Rob would prefer to play rugby, but now watches and enjoys spending time with his young family.
John’s role at Chancery is that of Managing Partner. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants and has spent the majority of his working career either in a financial capacity with major multinationals, including a ten year stint in Germany, or in Management Consulting. Former employers include, The Dow Chemical Company, KPMG, Atos, Gillette and Santander. During his time in consulting John specialized in Shared Services and Company Transformations. John is a native of Lancashire, speaks fluent German, and is married with three children. His hobbies include various sports, reading, music and travel. | |||||
